Tyndale Fellowship Spotlight: Christian Doctrine Study Group
News
30th April 2021
The Tyndale Fellowship Conference 2021 will take place this summer, from Monday 21 June to Friday 2 July. This annual conference brings together six discipline-based study groups over two weeks for lectures and discussion on the latest scholarly developments. This year, due to constraints on international travel, the conference will take place online.
The Christian Doctrine Study Group will run from Wednesday 30 June to Friday 2 July. Its general theme is the Nature of the Relationship of Church, State and Borders, and speakers will address important topics such as hospitality, migration and race. These talks will reach beyond the media stereotypes of how evangelicals engage with these questions, and offer a thoughtful and relevant discussion from a range of different Evangelical scholars and practitioners, from the UK and around the word.
Dr Nigel Biggar’s Christian Doctrine Tyndale Lecture, Whatever Happened to the Canaanites? A Christian Ethic of Mass Migration, is one of six plenary talks for the Tyndale Fellowship Conference that are free for anyone to attend. Dr Biggar’s address will consider moral questions raised by the biblical text concerning mass migration in light of post-biblical Christian ethics, practical reason, historical experience and the rest of Scripture. Additionally, there will be important addresses from leading figures such as Krish Kandiah and TA Noble, and a panel reviewing Vincent Bacote’s recent book on Evangelicalism and race.
If you are interested in meeting other Christian scholars and engaging with significant questions for our time, we would encourage you to sign up. To make it easier for delegates to join more than one Study Group, attendees can simply pay £10 more to attend as many additional study groups as they wish.
