Tyndale House Library joins OpenAthens

OpenAthens, an online platform and authentication system, brings together many of Tyndale House Library’s e-resources in one place. OpenAthens provides access through a single sign-on, giving readers a more efficient and simplified experience when accessing online resources. The transition to the OpenAthens system also means that readers can access e-resources remotely, finding and reading journal articles with the same ease at home as at their library desk.

Matt Baalham, Deputy Librarian, said “One of the reasons readers love the library is because it gives them access to all the physical resources they need in one place. OpenAthens extends this principle to the online realm and we hope that readers will benefit from our growing collection of e-resources there, even when the library is closed or when they find themselves having to study from another location. We especially hope it will be a blessing to those who have no way of accessing them through home institutions.”

Through OpenAthens, Tyndale House readers now have digital access to the Loeb Classical Digital Library, Bloomsbury (including T&T Clark) E-Books Collection of Theology and Biblical Studies (with over 1,000 titles), and the New Testament Abstracts and Old Testament Abstracts databases. 

There are also almost 40 e-journals* available to Tyndale House readers through OpenAthens, with more resources expected to be added in the future.
