The Philosophy of Religion Study Group is scheduled to run from Monday 21 to Wednesday 23 June. The group is dedicated to exploring philosophical questions raised by the Christian Scriptures, and philosophical questions posed by our surrounding culture or daily lives in the light of the Christian Scriptures. Questions to be studied this year include the status of the human embryo, how to understand religious disagreement, animal suffering, the resurrection of the body, doing good, joy, faith, and whether Jesus’s death was sufficient for all.
The focus of the meeting is set to be Professor Daniel von Wachter’s Tyndale Lecture, What Should One Mean by ‘Agent Causation’?, which is one of six plenary talks for the Tyndale Fellowship Conference that are free for anyone to attend. Prof. von Wachter is Professor of Philosophy at the International Academy for Philosophy at Liechtenstein. He has two doctorates in philosophy: one in metaphysics, and one in philosophy of religion. He speaks German, English, Spanish, and Swedish, and reads Ancient Greek, Latin, and Biblical Hebrew. He is also an accomplished violinist, singer, and alpinist.
